Carnaval de Bordeira

You won’t need to go far to attend this one. Actually you can just walk down the 2 km to the village. Yes, this carnival is organized by the community of the nearby village and it’s usually great fun. Because it’s so local don’t expect a lot of cars and fancy carnival fantasies. But it’s so genuine, so joyful. It takes place in the Winter. Some times in February, some times in March. The party starts about 3 PM on Saturday and goes on for about one hour and a half. Most of the participants are locals which makes things more interesting. It’s the most important Carnival parade in Faro municipality so even the mayor pops up for a while.

About Ricardo and Laura

We are together since 1997, when Ricardo moved from Lisbon to establish himself in Algarve. Back in those times we lived in a small villa not far from Almancil, about 15 km from Casa do Sonho. Then we sold that property and bought the current villa. After a couple years living here we decided to move again.
